Online Gaming community? Rude?

Hello. I'm not talking about WoW or runescape communities, but runescape has it's own problems. I'm talking about online gaming communities on console games. A lot of the games I play online using a headset I often get bashed because of my age. I'm 14, And i don't try to make myself sound older when i talk like many do, i just use my normal voice. As you may know, most of gamers are over 20. Often, when encountering someone young like myself they feel the need to insult you and not take you seriously. I often find myself taking off my headset because sometimes if I talk just once everybody there starts insulting me. Why just today, i was playing socom and I was killed by a sniper. I said "ahh crap i died." and instantly someone who I assumed to be in his 40s started saying things like. "You f..king kid get out of here." And "what are you 12?" I was pleased to see the guy get killed by the same sniper,

Online Gaming community? Rude?
Ya this is one of the problems with on-line gaming right now. There is a huge range in gamers age and it can make younger players seem annoying to older players.I'm 19 and when I do play on xboxlive I try to play fair with everyone.I only yell at people when there no good or rude.If this is a big problem for you I suggest making rooms and inviting players around your age or who you know are friendly.
Reply:Mike, I answered your other question yesterday. I saw today that you had added a remark about another question. So I looked this one up.

I just want to let you know this... it has nothing to do with being an adult or a child. Whether you're playing online or on a console at home. There will always be people that are mean and rude while playing games. They aren't just sore losers... they are sore winners too.

Unfortunately, my 12 year old daughter is one of them. We will be playing games on our Game Cube at home as a family and she will get so involved in the game to where she gets mean and out of control. We're talking games from James Bond to Mario Party. It doesn't matter if she's winning or losing. I've stood up and left the room and/or turned off the game before because she gets so bad. Before we start playing, I always need to warn her that if she starts to get out of hand... the game goes off. Then during the games I will need to remind her several times too. The only time she can control herself is if she's playing by herself without any competition. She's a good, sweet girl that still likes princesses, Barbies, and other girl stuff. But when it involves games and competition... something wicked comes out in her.

You're still young and you probably haven't been exposed to playing games at home with a large variety of people. Playing games online does. So you are now getting to experience the way people can be while playing games. It's not going to end with video games either Mike. When you get into High School you're going to find out that it's the same way with playing sports.

It's competition Mike... it will bring out the worst in some people.
Reply:There will always have rude players in any kind of online gaming community. Wether it's on PC or on a console. I play Halo 2 online on my Xbox and believe me, there are a lot of players who don't take the game seriously. Team killers and/or players who just say crap to ya and team kill ya without no apparent reason. I'm a pro type gamer and sometimes I do that but not too often, not all the time. I let my weapon do the talking rather than speaking into my headset and say crap to other players. It's pointless for voice chatting. Sometimes it helps to communicate your team mate in the heat of the battle. I'm talking about those who want to play for real, play for fun, actually play the game and want to win the game. Those who just screw around and don't give a damn are in still in the immature zone. I know I said that I do it too but I do said I don't do it very often and not all the time. I don't use the headset anymore, I just silently play. Also those players playing their music on the headset are so dumb. Voice chat isn't meant to play your favorite music, it's meant to communicate other players online, duh. I'm 19 years old but no matter what age, the one who acts like an idiot IS literally an idiot.
Reply:Don't take it personal. Many gamers are rude, but some(like myself) try not to xD.

But seriously, some people are just like that, some people just have problems.
Reply:I've played socom since socom 1 man and trust me thats just the way it is. Everyone bashes kids on that game. I don't think its much better other games but I know socom is super scum mainly because it's free. Also it was originally a rated M game so when they dumped it down to T and took out the blood and some other stuff the community blamed the kids on the game. Just don't let it bother you. PS username = _-Link-_ hit me up with friends if you wanna play.
