There are many different denominations that derive from the bible. I am studying the bible and find that I agree on some things and not on others. What if a website could be made, an online community where individuals could vote against key biblical issues and create a new denomination that follows Christs teachings. What do you think? Any Suggestions?
I have an idea for an Online Christian Community Church?
It already exists! Oh no, they.
Reply:Why do you think we should get to vote on things instead of just following what God says?!? The reason there's denominations is exactly what you're suggesting - "Let's decide what God REALLY wants us to do. He was just kidding when he give us scripture." Man has tried to use his own "wisdom" to figure out what God wants instead of just listening to God and doing what he says. :(
Reply:Interesting...
Reply:Hmmm...so you're wanting to pick and choose what you want out of the Bible, is this correct? Count me out.
Reply:Well, there's nothing to stop you from building a site like that. But it's a really dumb idea, honestly. You don't get to choose and pick what you want to believe out of the Bible.
If you are talking about denominational things like whether you must speak in tongues or not - those are already debated by pastors and theologians. None of them have the right answer.
If you are talking about things like does the Bible say a woman must be submissive to a man - then you are treading on very dangerous ground. Because the Bible is clear that a wife should be submissive to her husband as the church is submissive to God - AND - that the husband should be submissive to her, likewise, as if she is his own body. Too many people get that wrong and is still a debated issue.
Putting up a site like that, while you are free to do it, you would add more discourse and not serve any good.
There are lots of churches and pastors, but not all of them preach the main, important, life-changing message of the gospel. Lots dwell in too much tradition and too much denominationalism. This is another reason why a lot of the big churches are non-denominational - to get away from all the tradition.
Reply:Interesting.
It may have merit.
I think the popular vote eventually dictates religious doctrine anyway, so why not speed up the process with the internet.
